Hello friends and welcome to the world of power animals. Today we’ll look at the earthworm. There are 6,000 species of earthworms in the world that have been around for over 120 million years. Earthworms don’t have eyes or lungs. They do have 5 hearts and a good blood system. With their long cylindrical, tubular, segmented body they spend most of their time wriggling and burrowing underground. The busy earthworm eats decaying plants and other organisms converting them into fresh, fertile soil.

The grounded earthworm likes to stay hidden yet there are 1 million worms living in just one acre of land. Earthworms work tirelessly underground, eating and tunneling, always moving slowly forward. They’re known as the "farmers of the soil" because they ventilate and fertilize the soil to feed plants. They also play an important role in the food chain, providing food for many different animals, including birds and small mammals. They offer quite a few benefits to the earth’s ecosystems. The slimy earthworm likes soft, moist food and loves to journey inch by inch for better places to live. They’re very resilient and although they may bruise, they rarely break. Earthworms can even grow back whatever piece of their body that is cut off.

The sensitive earthworm makes no excuses for who they are or what they do. They’re often associated with the qualities of determination, healing, and humility. The earthworm often goes unnoticed but they’re one of the world’s major recyclers for the environment. They’re symbols of service, regeneration, and renewal.
