In Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holds a joint news conference with Fumio Kishida, his Japanese counterpart. This is Kishida’s first visit to Canada since taking office in 2021. The prime ministers answer questions from reporters on Canadian natural gas exports to Japan, as well as Japan’s increase in defense spending in response to regional security threats posed by China and North Korea.
