New to river fishing, or fishing for Steelhead? Pay close attention to how much I rock the rod, back and forth with a low side pressure. Why? well, it helps get the fish off balance and work with you a bit more.
If you keep your rod in the same position the whole fight, the fish will find current and hold in it and use it to it's advantage. If you are changing the angle, the fish has to move and do something different.
I highly recommend giving this a try.

Also, Do NOT clamp down on the reel( centerpin reel) and try to Horse them in, especially if you feel they are going to do a run. Chances are, you will snap your line and you can kiss that fish goodbye! It's not a race to see how fast you can get the fish in. Tire them out and relish in the reward. Catch My Drift?
