The Knights Templar were a medieval Christian military order founded in the 12th century. They were known for their prowess in battle and their wealth and influence, which they used to support the Christian crusaders in the Holy Land. However, in the early 14th century, the order was disbanded by the Pope and many of its members were arrested and executed.

There is a theory that some of the surviving Knights Templar fled to Scotland, where they were welcomed by the Scottish king Robert the Bruce. From there, they are said to have gone on to become pirates and explore the New World, possibly even discovering America before Christopher Columbus.

This theory is based on the idea that the Templars had extensive knowledge of navigation and shipbuilding, as well as access to maps and other navigational tools. They are also said to have had a fleet of ships at their disposal, which they could have used to make the journey across the Atlantic.

There is some evidence to support this theory, such as the discovery of a medieval shipwreck off the coast of Nova Scotia that may have been a Templar vessel. Additionally, there are stories and legends of mysterious "sea kings" who were said to have visited the New World long before Columbus.
