Manaus is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas. It is located at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers and serves as an important economic and cultural hub for the region. Manaus had a period of prosperity during the rubber boom of the late 19th and early 20th centuries but its best days seem to be behind it.

The Mercado Municipal is a historic market that sells a wide variety of goods, including fresh produce, meats, fish, and handcrafted goods. The market is particularly known for its exotic fruits and vegetables, many of which are native to the Amazon rainforest.

Im taking a trip down the Amazon soon so I needed to buy a few bits and decided to spend the day down the market.
