Care home worker jailed for stealing thousands of pounds in savings from vulnerable residents

Abiola Akinremi was imprisoned at the Old Bailey for duping weak patients at the consideration home where she worked/MPS

Acare home specialist who ravaged nearly £20,000 from the reserve funds of weak occupants has been imprisoned for a very long time.

Abiola Akinremi, 41, manhandled her situation as a head at the office, Bostall House in Monastery Wood

, southeast London, to make many unapproved withdrawals from the ledgers of patients.

The Old Bailey heard a portion of the home's inhabitants are kept under the Emotional wellness Act,

what's more, those without family support hand over control of their funds to managers and carers.

Akinremi, a mother-of-three, initially began taking from occupants when she really wanted cash for childcare,

also, proceeded with the extortion to "store her own way of life", the court heard.

Judge Angela Rafferty KC condemned Akinremi to seven months in jail, telling her

: "This was a rehashed and arranged course of direct, and an intense break of trust of weak individuals."

Investigator Robert Levack said

: "Individuals who inhabit the house are defenseless

, they have different circumstances and are confined under the Emotional well-being Act or other regulation. It is a 24-hour care office.

"They are not permitted to take off from Bostall House without an individual from staff or a relative.

Some have their monetary illicit relationships taken care of by the home."

Agents were acquired when worries about Akinremi's exercises were brought up in November 2018

. They found £43,000 was missing from inhabitants' financial balances, including £32,000 from one casualty.

"The manner by which money and cash was managed for inhabitants at the house was unacceptable

", said Mr Levack.
Akinremi kept misrepresentation until the main day from getting her preliminary,

demanding that other staff at the house were attempting to "pin the fault" on her.

She at last conceded taking £19,650 throughout eight months from three inhabitants,

also, keeps on expressing others at the house were associated with bad behavior.

"Ms Akinremi is just answerable for her own lead"

, said her counselor, Ranjeet Dulay,

highlighting proof of cash being taken from inhabitants on occasion when Akinremi was on vacation.

She said the director had been experiencing gloom when the extortion started and required cash for childcare when the misrepresentation started.

"It was at first a shrewd offense, yet she kept on participating in it further", she said.

Akinremi went to work in another consideration home subsequent to being excused from Bostall House, and has been "attempting to set things right and put

into the kind of local area that she took from", added Ms Dulay.

Judge Rafferty dismissed a supplication for a suspended jail sentence, finishing up just a quick spell in a correctional facility would be proper.

Akinremi, from Carriage in Essex, conceded to three charges of extortion by maltreatment of position.
