US Emergency Action Messages – January 12 Livestream Highlights

I notice some people are still confused about why there has been a substantive dip in EAM traffic the last week or so – there hasn't. I've outlined in a few recent videos and livestreams that EAMs didn't stop, but nobody has taken over transcription in my absence. It's not sustainble for me to keep doing this for free in perpetuity, so there are a couple possible solutions;

1. Someone else takes over! You and/or a friend can register an account on https://www.eam.watch (for free!) and listen to the US EAM frequencies yourself, and enter messages you hear into the site to continue tracking these messages. I've given you all the information you need to do this throughout my previous videos, but I'm happy to answer any lingering questions to get you on your way. (Disclaimer/clarification: I am not the owner, a formal staff member, or have any vested interest in https://www.eam.watch, I'm simply a fan of the site.)

2. I continue myself with some kind of financial compensation. It would not be unfair to compare the amount of time I spent on daily EAM compilation videos to a part-time job, and the fact my Youtube channel was demonetized is disheartening but doesn't rule out alternative methods of subsidizing this program. If I receive a total of $30 a month in committed pledges via Patreon and/or Buymeacoffee (or other private donation), whether it's from one person donating $30 or it's thirty people donating $1, I will continue to the end of February 2023. Other, similar channels are requesting an outrageous $1000(!) to monitor EAMs and don't even offer daily compilations of transcriptions – so what I'm offering is insanely good value for dollar. If we don't reach $30 a month, I'll refund anyone who asks who did contribute to try and reach the goal. (Offer expires Jan 30th 2022, amount would increase to $100 a month and have some conditionals and caveats.)

I don't like asking for money like this – which is why I was so excited that the channel was monetized – but as it stands, being modest about the amount of time and skill these videos require helps no one, and since no one has stepped up to fill my shoes in my absence, the point is made that I'm offering a fairly unique service at this time, and the shoddy editing of a video like this shows you even more that there was an amount of attention and care put into the normal compilation videos. I said it seemed likely that exactly this situation would happen.

3. Huge strides have been made in automated recording and even AI-based audio transcription over the last few weeks, and it seems very likely we'll be seeing this emerge as a viable option over the next year or so, if not potentially much sooner. You're very welcome to wait for this possibility to become a reality – I'm looking forward to it myself.
