325 – Spencer Emch – Time of Flight

I opened the cover to “Time of Flight” and began to read with great interest. I like helicopters and Spencer Emch’s experience of being in the U.S. Army as an Apache pilot captivated me.
Spencer’s story isn’t a traditional military book sense in many respects. After reading it through the second time, I liked that Spencer took a different approach to tell his story about the relationship with his fellow pilots and the AH-64 Apache.
I feel at its core, “Time of Flight” is about relationships. There is no “Army of One’. We don’t fight alone, and it is those relationships soldiers have with each other that make for mission accomplishment. When Spencer transitions out of the military, making new relationships in a new place helped him immensely.
Take your time when reading, “Time of Flight”, it is more than just a story about flying a helicopter.
