Ponziani Opening | Greedy for Pawns

In this game I face the Ponziani Opening, which I've seen a decent number of times, but this time there's an unusual move... a quick d4. After the game, Game Review tells me I've only seen it 1 time before, and it did feel very unfamiliar and tricky.

What really stood out for me about this game is the number of decisions I had to make about pawn grabbing. Usually you don't want to get greedy for pawns, but at the same time, when there's a free pawn most of the time Game Review tells you to take it!

Here are some stand out moves:

1. On move 4 I have a chance to take a hanging pawn. I don't take it.. but should I have?
2. On move 13 my opponent makes a huge blunder and I miss it completely.
3. On move 26 I felt like it was a bit crazy to take the hanging pawn, even with check, because my opponent has 2 rooks on the 7th! Scary! I take the pawn... mistake or nah?
4. On move 27... again.. hanging pawn! My opponent still has rooks on the 7th, my king has no escape square... do I take?

Usually I resist being greedy for hanging pawns but I think I did a pretty good job in this game.

I hope you enjoy, and I'll see you next time.
