Does the FDA work for the public, or for industry?
I can’t answer definitively whether the FDA ultimately operates in the public’s best interest or not. I can only determine for myself the extent to which I trust the products marketed by the industries they are supposed to be regulating.
I CAN, however, shed some light on historical context, the drug & medical device industries’ track records, and the ways which the interests of the FDA, government, and industry have become entangled (to say the least).
In this episode, I explore those subjects through the lens of the medical device industry and a few case studies.
I also wrap it up with the latest Twitter Files revelations and what it tells us about industry influence over public discourse.
P.S. The CDC states that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Even though this episode discusses important context for navigating today’s medical landscape, I am not giving medical advice. That’s between you and your trusted physician.
