In this video, were going to discuss 8 emotional myths that influences how you see yourself, others, and your world. These are often strengthened when you’re enveloped by rage, abandonment, and emptiness. These myths keep you locked into your comfort zone of BPD, but they don’t have to. Let’s explore these myths, weaken them, and empower you to take control of your life going forward.

Emotional myths and beliefs are often at the heart of BPD and the problems it causes in your life. Having BPD impacts your life in many different ways, and these ways are almost universal across all individuals who are contending with, or living with someone who has BPD, and they include feeling defenseless, rageful, empty, and abandoned.

I’m here to tell you that having BPD does not have to mean you are chained to the emotional whims it dictates. You can manage these thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and it starts with identifying these 8 emotional myths. This comes from DBT and it’s a great framework to empower yourself over your BPD.

Many of the myths I’m going to reveal to you, are things you likely think or say to yourself. These myths are potent trickery tools your BPD uses to keep you wedded to it. Well let’s debunk them and dive right in.
Get a piece of paper for this exercise. As we go through this, ask yourself, “do I really believe this?” If you do, give it a yes, if not, give it a no. Keep track of how many of these beliefs you hold onto.

Now that you’ve assessed how many myths you are wedded to, it’s time to change these beliefs that are based on these emotional myths.
