The Surva Tradition is one of the most colourful and ancient traditions in Bulgaria. It dates back to Thracian times and in 2015 was included in the list of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The purpose of this festival is to chase the bad spirits and to manifest prosperity and abundance.
