Deadly Infestation Gameplay - Part 6 - How do you make bricks?

So I decided to dig underground instead of trying to find enough flints on the ground outside. There was no nodes but it looks like if you dig deep enough you get a ton of flints from digging the ground. The forge has now been built. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to turn on the forge. Wood doesn't seem to work as fuel and I don't know the recipe for a brick. It's probably easy but I can't seem to find any tip in game.
