New Chelsea loan signing Joao Felix said he is "very happy and excited" to be playing at "one of the great teams in the world" on Wednesday.

Portugal international Felix has completed a loan move to the London club from Atletico Madrid until the end of the current season, with 'The Blues' paying a 9.7-million pounds ($11.75-million US dollars) fee for the striker's services.

The 23-year-old has also signed a contract extension with Atletico though, taking his current deal at Estadio Metropolitano through to the end of the 2026-27 season.

Felix joined 'The Colchoneros' from Benfica four years ago for £113-million pounds ($136.9-million US dollars) and has scored 34 goals in 131 appearances for the club.

He joins a Chelsea team that have lost six and won one of their last eight matches in all competitions and currently sit in tenth place in the Premier League standings.
