Contra gameplay but I only use 1 hand in stage 6 Energy Zone

I go back to playing the classic game Contra and seeing If it can be played but with 1 hand. This is Contra gameplay 1987 NES version. The fire bars are tricky to do, I kept losing grip on my d pad and kept dying
