Oak Hill Church of Christ 7-24-22 Message: "Trouble for the Church"

Oak Hill Church of Christ member, Neil Greenwood delivers a message on the path taken by those bold Christian men throughout history who resisted the tyranny of man's control over Christ's Church.

Many people today, especially those living in the United States do not always consider what their religious and social lives would have looked like if their beliefs and faith practices were constrained or enforced by government officials who had given themselves not only public authority, but religious authority as well.

Resisting their theological overtures could mean loss of property, job, or even life. Yet, these bold men stood firm on what the Bible said rather than what the government said, faithful to the Word of God even to death.

They were willing to leave their homes and everyone they knew for a chance to practice their Christian faith as they had read it in the Bible, and to be free from the corruptive impulses of agents of political authority, and even those within their own churches who attempted to assemble for themselves a specific group who worshipped God "the correct way" according to them.

Christians today would be surprised to see how little is "new" about the quest to worship God according to the Word, and yet, how much we can continue to learn from our history's men of faith.
