65. Skeptics would argue that the word compassion doesn’t fit in this context, but it does. Break it down to com as in com mon, com moner, a mixed and mingled person of com mon stock genetically, and passion actually meaning suffering. The other instance of passion is the love practiced by commoners, which is viewed as suffering esoterically. Having compassion one empathizes with the suffering of the common man, which is derived from his ignorance. Love itself is symbolic of regeneration. High esoteric love is for those who are above Les Miserables.
