10.01.23 - Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu holds special teleconference
Today, the Russian Defence Ministry has hosted the first special teleconference in 2023.
Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu thanked once again all the military — those who took part in the special military operation and those who were on duty during the holidays, who served on duty in shifts and on daily duty, carried out tasks in military hospitals, and took part in the restoration of infrastructure in the liberated territories.
Results of the activity of the Russian Armed Forces were summarised at the extended session of the Russian Defence Ministry Board in December.
Given the special military operation's experience, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief has assigned the military department a variety of important tasks.
The main one is to take exhaustive measures to qualitatively renew the Armed Forces and increase their combat capabilities.
The Russian Defence Minister stressed that it was necessary to continually analyse and systematise the experience of Russian force grouping in Ukraine and Syria in order to develop training programmes and military equipment supply plans.
The Russian troops' experience should serve as the foundation for better combat training.
Moreover, the head of the military department stated that Russia continued to develop the nuclear triad and maintain its combat readiness, as the nuclear shield had always been the main guarantor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
It is also planned to enhance combat capabilities of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It concerns both fighter jets and bombers operating in the area of modern air defence systems, and modernisation of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Russia's immediate plans includes augmentation of the up-to-date strike capabilities.
It is also important to upgrading the equipment and tactical outfit of the personnel to the highest level as quickly as possible.
Everything a soldier needs has to be contemporary, comfortable, and dependable.
Besides, command and control system and communication need to be improved. To this end, we will make extensive use of artificial intelligence technology.
Military commissariats' work is to be modernised in the near future.
There is a need to digitise information, coordinate with local and regional governments, as well as industry, and reform civil and territorial defence organisations.
It is of paramount importance to strengthen the tools for responding to civic initiatives, some of which merit particular attention.
Solving these and other objectives will strengthen the Armed Forces' fighting capabilities, facilitate deterrence of aggression against Russia and its allies.
The attendees are to discuss plans for 2023 in more detail on a number of key areas of the Armed Forces' activities.
