DAY 2- THE LORD IS MY HELPER!

Isa 45:1 "Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—To subdue nations before him And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut:
Isa 45:2 'I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron.
Isa 45:3 I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.

Heb 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU."
Heb 13:6 So we may boldly say: "THE LORD IS MY HELPER; I WILL NOT FEAR. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?"

Besides issuing a decree permitting the captives to return home, Cyrus also avenged God’s wrath on the nations. Amazingly the Lord called Cyrus His anointed. The word “anointed” referred to the relationship Israel’s first two kings, Saul and David, had with God (1Sa 10:1; 1Sa 16:6). Since Israel in exile had no king, Cyrus functioned in a sense as her king (the anointed one) to bring about blessing of the Lord. Like the Messiah (lit., who is “the Anointed One”) who would come after him, Cyrus had a twofold mission: to free the people, and to bring God’s judgment on unbelievers.

God did All this through Cyrus (a type and shadow of Christ) for the sake of Jacob, God’s Chosen People. And even though Cyrus was not a believer for he did not acknowledge the Lord as the true God. God called him by name and he was honored by God because he yielded himself to be used by God.

God’s uses individuals, whom He equips and raises up at specific times and for specific work for the sake of His Church. God choices are sovereign, and the fact that they may or may not make sense to you, it has no bearing on them. We do not always recognize the real sources God uses for our lives unless you’d discern them by His Word and by the Holy Spirit.

So let us not gird ourselves in our own strength leaning unto our own understandings as the world around us do, day in and day out, but let us continue to stretch forth holy hands unto Him, knowing that He will neither fail us nor forsake us.

Those who utterly yield to the Lord Jesus are embolden in the exercise of daring faith to declare, that is, to claim their covenant and redemptive rights in Christ Jesus our Lord.
