Oak Hill Church of Christ preaching minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on the importance of remembering the family ties that come with membership in the Body of Christ.

It is easy to profess onesself a lover of God who is constantly thinking good things about God or doing good things for God and developing a relationship with God. Absent the word of a prophet, it is difficult to ask God to respond in a contrary way, allowing the individual to abscond with his or her professed moral virtue while at the same time having done nothing.

Jesus connects the love of God in the heart of the believer with the love of his or her brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus' command is to love thy neighbor, who he appears to define as all men and women whom he has delivered into our path. We never know when we have been given an opportunity by God to be an answer to the prayer of a brother or sister in Christ.

The true follower of God ought to say "I love my neighbor" and know that he has, in deed, shown his love for God in doing so. The test of the Christian is always not whether we love God in theory, but whether we love Him in practice.

God knows that love doesn't always come easy, and He knows that some people are hard to love, so, in Christ's name; practice.
