My biggest moment of culture shock on this trip was realizing what a giant topic the idea of bad American healthcare is when you are in the US. We have been away long enough now, doing enough time without needing to think about things like healthcare that having it be a constant topic of fearful conversation suddenly feels awkward. And then we remember that there was a time when we used to have to think about it all of the time too! But no more.
