Uma das cenas mais fortes da série, é quando Black Jack Randall abusa sexualmente de James Fraser, quando o matinha aprisionado. E esta foi exatamente a cena em que o ator, Sam Heughan, repudiou em ter que fazer por dois motivos: uma por ser obrigado a contracenar completamente nu, sendo que era uma escolha dele não ter que participar daquela forma e a exigência da cena em si ter que existir.

No trecho do seu livro, Sam reforça sobre ter se sentido “traindo um pouco minha confiança”, além de relatar que “Nunca se afastou da violência sexual. Como um reflexo da época, a história pode ser inflexível. E com isso vem um senso de responsabilidade.Tinha que ser difícil de assistir, e isso tornou ainda mais desafiador filmar”.

One of the strongest scenes in the series is when Black Jack Randall sexually abuses James Fraser, when he has him imprisoned. And this was exactly the scene in which the actor, Sam Heughan, repudiated having to do it for two reasons: one for being forced to act completely naked, since it was his choice not to have to participate in that way and the requirement of the scene in if it has to exist.

In the excerpt from his book, Sam reinforces that he felt “betraying my confidence a little”, in addition to reporting that “He never walked away from sexual violence. As a reflection of the times, history can be unyielding. And with that comes a sense of responsibility. It had to be hard to watch, and that made it even more challenging.
