The main difference between being depressed and depression is being depressed is a state of feeling down or sad. It is normal to feel depressed in response to certain life events or challenges, but when these feelings persist and interfere with daily life, it may be a sign of clinical depression. It is important to seek help if you are experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or other symptoms of depression, as depression can be treated with therapy, medication, or a combination of the two. Whereas, depression is a mental health disorder characterized by persistent sadness and loss of interest in activities that a person normally enjoys. Symptoms of depression can include changes in appetite and sleep patterns, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, and thoughts of death or suicide. Depression can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, life events, and medical conditions.
