Surrender All in Life and Spirit - Brothers, Do Not Slander One Another

James shifts his language from adulterous people to brothers in verse 11. He takes us from a message of repentance to exhorting specific behaviors. James warns us of slander and regards slander as a sin which he could be citing from (Leviticus 19:16). We are taught that if you love your neighbor (Leviticus 19:18), then how can you go behind them and slander them. Further, if you slander, then you become a judge and we are not following God’s law. We are reminded that there is only one judge and that is God. God is the only one who can save and destroy. He is the one who is qualified to judge and God is quite clear who will be casting judgment – Jesus Christ.
