The Russian Defence Ministry asserted on Sunday that they had conducted a missile attack on a few buildings in Kramatorsk, reportedly killing more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers in retaliation for an alleged attack on Russian barracks in Makiivka on the night of December 31st. According to BBC, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Army said that this claim was "simply more propaganda" and effectively refuted the allegations. Furthermore, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian forces reported that the Russian-backed separatists were the ones who had actually attacked the Russian barracks in the first place, causing the demise of around 89 soldiers.
