Best Day - Part 3 (S02 E01 P3)

Location: Stocked Pond
Bait: Powerbait Wigglers and Powerbait Eggs
Rig: Slip Weight with Powerbait.

Trying out some new bait. The pond dropped about 3 feet after the irrigation water was shut off for the year. This makes the pond much smaller and compresses the fish into smaller areas. There were a number of cormorants on the pond when I arrived but they all left soon after. Previously, there was only one or two to deal with, but today there were 8 or 9. These diving predators can cause a lot of stress on the fish, especially in such high numbers. However, the pond is sufficiently stocked that they were not much of an issue. I have one of my best days ever on the pond.

In this video, I meet a fellow fisherman who stopped by after the baseball game he planned on attending was canceled. Rather than making the long drive back home to another town, he stopped by to talk about fishing. It was nice to hear his stories and learn about his success.
