Hellraiser 2022 movie reaction and review

I'm a long-time Hellraiser fan who's used to being gravely disappointed every time Hollywood tinkers with the stories I cherish. So I didn't know what to expect with this 2022 reimagining of Hellraiser.

I am happy to say I was thrilled with the result. I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The acting of the lead cenobite was the most impressive part of this thoughtful remake. While the story takes liberties with the Hellraiser mythos it's done so with respect and intelligence.

The horror is intimate and the gore is visceral.

The only weak point was the unlikeable main character Riley. And since likability can vary you might not have the same issue. Eventually, I came around to root for Riley but it really didn't start out that way. She was pouty and childish and not a worthy hero at first.

Overall: great story, great cenobites, great visuals, great musical score, and an all-around great time.
