Emerging Fascist Ideologies in the American System?

Is there a sudden influx of fascist ideology in the American system? Is the current war going on between the left and the right not a political divide based on leaning, but one based on the ideas of good and evil? Is turning politics into a morality debate a good thing or will it only further whatever rift is already between the two parties? If you stop seeing those who disagree with you as people, and begin to view them as the enemy, how far are you willing to go to stop them?
