The Key To Safer Women: Accountable Men?

According to the NSVRC, 1 in 5 women in the US experienced completed or attempted rape in their lifetime. Nearly a quarter of men experienced some form of contact-sexual violence in their lifetime. What do we do about that? How do we stop it? Can it be stopped? Is it harsher sentencing? Tougher laws? I’ve often heard that it’s about raising better men. As a man myself, honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about that sentiment. Maybe because it sounds like a grouping and I want to push back on the idea that it’s “men” and instead “bad men”. I’m not sure. It’s hard to ignore the lasting effects that bad parenting can have. Even good parenting can’t save some kids from going down a bad path. Something needs to change. The question is how do we change it?
