How did Disney manage to destroy STAR WARS - arguably the most valuable and lucrative intellectual property of all time? Box Office and merchandising collapsed under the House of Mouse following the 2017 disaster, Star Wars Episode 8 -The Last Jedi

In 2012 George Lucas sold his Lucasfilm empire to the Walt Disney Company for a sum of over $4 Billion in cash and Disney stock. Part of his arrangement with then Walt Disney CEO Robert ( Bob ) Iger was that Kathleen Kennedy would be retained as President of Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries.

What followed was a string of business and financial miscalculations, blunders, and outright disasters for Star Wars and the Walt Disney Company, which soured CEO Robert Iger's reputation and legacy after highly, financially successful acquisitions of other vaunted properties such as MARVEL STUDIOS / MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT and PIXAR STUDIOS.

Since the release of THE LAST JEDI , STAR WARS fans have been wondering if this franchise is beyond repair, at least as long as it resides in the hands of Disney.
