How to "allegedly" redeem any paper bonds:

How to redeem series EE paper savings bond
1. fll out attached form

2. go to your bank and have a certifying officer to witness your signature. This officer is either a bank manager or teller (page 2 or 3)

3. certifying officer will certify your signature with a stamp or a seal

4. send the signed and certified form (attached) along with your bond to the address on the form.

You may redeem your bond before it reaches maturation (30 years). You just won't get the interest that it would have accrued over the remaining years. Current interest rate for EE bonds is .10%. I bonds is 3.5%.
