Putin instructed to introduce a ceasefire in Ukraine for Christmas after call of Patriarch Kirill

Orthodox Christians, including those living in Russia and Ukraine, celebrate Christmas on January 6-7.

1a. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to introduce a ceasefire along the entire line of contact between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 Moscow time on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7. 

The decision was made in connection with the call of Patriarch Kirill to establish a Christmas truce in the zone of the special operation.

“Based on the fact that a large number of citizens professing Orthodoxy live in the areas of hostilities, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give them the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on the Day of the Nativity of Christ,” the decree of the Russian president says. published on the Kremlin website.
