RUSSIAN warship carrying 'Zircon' hypersonic missiles prepares for duty.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a frigate on patrol in the Atlantic Ocean armed with new-generation hypersonic cruise missiles. The Russian Defence Ministry released footage of the frigate, named Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov, a signal to the West that Moscow will not back down over the war in Ukraine.

Hypersonic weapons are designed to gain an edge over the adversary by speed – above five times the speed of sound – and manoeuvrability.
