Historic homes on PRINCESS ANNE STREET (1200 Block) - Fredericksburg, VA

Historic block includes the Douglas Gordon House, the Kenmore Inn and the Joseph Alsop House (also known as the George Sheppard House). Joseph's daughter Elizabeth Alsop wrote a journal that was published describing life in Fredericksburg under Union occupation during the Civil War. Previous home on the property was lived in by George Washington's cousin Catherine Washington. Homes were also used as headquarters to Northern officers during the Battle of Fredericksburg.
