Probably not my smartest move to waltz into the most notorious slum in Argentina. Thankfully I made friends along the way. The area is dangerous so this is not recommend, especially if you cannot speak a word of Spanish like myself.

Villa 31, also known as Barrio 31, is a shantytown located in the Retiro neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The settlement is home to a diverse community of immigrants, many of whom come from other parts of South America, and is one of the largest and most densely populated slums in the city. Despite being located in the centre of Argentina's capital, Villa 31 lacks basic infrastructure and public services, and residents often live in crowded and unsanitary conditions. Over the years, the Argentine government and various NGOs have made efforts to improve living conditions in Villa 31 and other slums in the city, but challenges such as poverty and lack of affordable housing remain.
