Watch Liberal opposition leader, Justin Trudeau, attempt to mislead Parliament that Bill C-42, known as the 'Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act,' would allow gun owners to carry restricted handguns and banned assault weapons to their local Canadian Tire or hockey rink parking lot.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper responded by saying "The statements the Liberal party leader has made are recklessly irresponsible and false. The fact of the matter is, under this law and current law, firearms can only be transported between specific locations, they must be in a locked case, they must be in the trunk, and they must be unloaded and Mr. Speaker, those are the facts, but we expect this kind of distortion from the party that brought in the long gun registry, and is itching to bring it back."

The Liberal Long Gun Registry (LGR) cost Canadians over $2 billion dollars, did not show any measurable increase to public safety, and was later admitted by Trudeau to be a complete policy failure.

Bill C-42 received royal assent June 18th, 2015:
