In this episode Constitutional Lawyer Leighton Grey and Sonya Anderson have a conversation about Sonya’s background in education and public service and how it’s shaped her current work at the Covid Care Alliance, some of the recent work she has been doing with the Citizens Hearing which gave a voice to those negatively impacted by the Covid-19 measures, and what some of her goals are with the work she is doing.

Sonya is one of the organizers of the Covid Care Alliance. She is working to bring awareness to the business, economic, educational, and societal impacts of lockdowns, constitutional law developments, medical and scientific findings, and the processes in place for politicians to navigate a crisis like Covid.

Anderson helped to organize the Citizens’ Hearing that took place from June 22nd to 24th, 2022 in Toronto, Canada, which marked the launch of an historic documentation of Canadians negatively impacted by government responses to COVID-19.

During the course of the 3-day event, stories were heard from families who lost loved ones, students who were faced with an unprecedented decision, business owners who lost everything, professionals that were forced to make career-ending decisions, and experts that confirmed that the government had other options and tools at their disposal.

Anderson & Grey dig deep into the idea that the process of science is a conversion over time and that one of the biggest lies we were told was that there was a general consensus among scientists during the pandemic, they cover some ideas when it comes to how we’ve responded collectively to the pandemic and what we can do to deal with it without living in fear of it, and how the 3 day Citizens Hearing was able to assemble and open up the space to collaborate and have important conversations about what to do next.
