Brighton gave midfielder Alexis Mac Allister a hero's welcome as he returned to training for the first time since winning the 2022 World Cup.

Mac Allister was one of the surprise stars at the tournament in Qatar, starting six of Argentina's seven games and getting an assist in the final against France.

Victory in Qatar made Mac Allister the first ever Brighton player to win the World Cup.

The 24-year-old was greeted with applause from staff and team-mates upon arrival, before being showered in blue, white and gold confetti as he lifted a mini World Cup trophy.

Mac Allister has missed Brighton’s first three games back since the resumption of English football, but could be available for the Seagulls' trip to Everton on January 3.
