Saving the Planet or Killing the Economy: The California Test
California is a global leader where the environment is concerned. The Golden State has some of the cleanest water in the U.S. California leads the way with renewable standards and clean car emissions. And the state is a leader on environmental policy. And yet with all that said many experts argue that California is wasting billions of dollars on things like wind and solar and electric cars while not taking into consideration that millions of Californians are struggling to pay their bills. Things like their rent and mortgage as well as car payments and gasoline just to survive. All of these environmental projects cost lots of money and possibly California could be better served simply taking care of its 40 million residents with some common sense solutions instead of Progressive environmental policy. Reporter David Nazar with Sustaining US on PBS hears both arguments.
