The speaker is Donald Macleod who was professor of systematic theology at the Free Church College - now Edinburgh Theological Seminary (ETS).
The lecture was from the 1999-2000 series of the Lectures in the Faith from Falkirk Free Church. This was the second of a set of five lectures on historical topics, the others being on John Knox, Samuel Rutherford, Thomas Boston and Thomas Chalmers.
