Russia hit Ukraine's capital Kyiv with missile attacks on New Year's Eve

Multiple missile attacks have been reported in various regions of Ukraine on New Year's Eve, according to Ukrainian officials.

Air raid alerts were activated across all regions of Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv. Authorities warned people not to ignore the alerts and go to shelters.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that explosions were recorded in three districts of the Ukrainian capital.

At least one person was killed and five others wounded in the attack, he said.

He also announced blasts in the Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the city.

Kyiv Governor Oleksii Kuleba announced the threat of rocket fire in the region, adding that the air defense is working in the region.
