In this video, I discuss Ethereum's move to proof of stake, and how this will enable both oligarchic insiders, as well as Wall Street firms and the Fed to exert enormous influence on the protocol.

Wall Street firms (with much lower borrowing costs than you or I can access) will borrow money from the Fed and use it to do an Ethereum carry trade. This will give the Fed indirect control and the firms direct control over the protocol.

Unlike proof of work, proof of stake is not competitive. It enables the ETH rich to get richer, at the expense of the neutrality of the money.

Coinbase, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Citadel, and Vanguard will control the Ethereum ecosystem, which will end up being just a crypto version of the existing fiat financial power structure.

By contrast, owning more Bitcoin does not give you any more control over Bitcoin. If it did, the actors behind the New York Agreement and Segwit2X would not have failed to push through their bigger block reforms.

It's easy for the Fed or other central banks to print up more money for Ethereum validators. The Fed cannot print up new energy for Bitcoin miners. Energy is globally distributed, while central bank money printers are not.

For these reasons, a successful Ethereum is a failed crypto revolution.

Ethereum truly is "banker coin."
