WHAT’S KEEPING YOU FROM TO PUTTING JESUS FIRST?
TEXT: MATTHEW 6:25-34

INTRODUCTION : When we closely examine this portion of Scripture here in Matthew chapter 6, which is part of our Lord’s sermon on the mount, we learn of God’s promise of temporal provision when we put him first in our lives. Here, Jesus guarantees that our basic food and clothing needs will be met. This promise is given to us because He doesn’t want us to be completely consumed with worry. He is essentially telling us to stop worrying about where our next paycheque is going to come from, or if we will have enough money to pay next month’s rent, or if we will be able to put food on the table and gas in the car if these gas prices continue to rise.

CONCLUSION: God will provide for your needs. He always keeps his promises, and He is faithful in doing so. God will never let you down. If it is "worry" that is keeping you away from God, then cast it upon Jesus today and He will give you that rest. It may not be burdens and worries that are keeping you from God, but rather the love of this world. The love of this present world was Demas’ downfall, and it may be yours too. The Bible commands us to “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.” Loving what this fallen world has to offer, will keep us from Jesus. So where is your allegiance today and to whom? You are either going to love Christ, or you are going to love this world. Which is it?
