KNIFE and STICK exercise

In the martial arts, weapons are as extensions of the human body.

The most common and practical weapons for the modern streets are,
“Stick and knife”.

Short sticks are a simple, easily accessible means for self-defence. Any broomstick can be quickly broken to be used as a stick weapon against a knife attack. A broken stick has the added advantage of one sharp, jagged end.

The walking stick and the umbrella are effectively stick weapons well suited for defence and “carry”.

Knives are essential tools for everyday life. They’re found in every kitchen, restaurant and home.

The length of the knife-blade influences the technique for both defence and offence.

Obstacles work in favour of the defender. A chair with legs is a good obstacle between defender and attacker.

Projectiles and other nearby objects can help your defence. Anything from a rock to a wall and all in-between, has the potential to be used as a weapon.

At every opportunity, drill learn and practice to defend against knives.

As a matter of routine, all my classes end with several knife attacks and defences. Thus, skills become lifesaving instincts.
