Baldwin the Aeronaut

I came across this story in the Great Southern Advocate from 1906:

I was struck by the reporter's account of Professor Baldwin's parting discussion with his wife before putting his life at risk in a daring balloon and parachute stunt.

He had been doings these 'displays' since 1888 at least:

There are quite a few Baldwin balloon/parachute folks, Thomas Baldwin went on to become the father of the modern parachute, but I don't think he
was the 'Professor' (John Baldwin) who apparently blew up in one of his displays in 1905:
