Engaging PowerPoint, Google Slides, student questions, and primary source for American history classes about the Second Great Awakening in the early 1800s and the reform movements that followed (e.g., Temperance Movement, Anti-Slavery Movement, Women's Rights Movement, and more). This curriculum also goes over some of the different Christian denominations in the United States (e.g., Baptism, Methodism, Presbyterianism, Mormonism, and more). This helps students understand how religions evolved and developed in the U.S.

Additionally, there are two primary source activities. The first one uses a source that details Second Great Awakening camp meetings. The second is an excerpt from Henry David Thoreau's Walden. This slide correlates with the Unitarian Church and Transcendentalism slides.

The primary source activities divide the class into lecture and student interaction and makes the class more enjoyable for the students and teacher. For these questions, there are suggested answers included. This activity also helps students with their historical thinking skills.

To make the students more engaged (and to make them pay attention), there are is a student study guide for students to complete during and/or after the presentation. Teachers love this! It ensures the students learn.

Furthermore, a teacher guide is included. The information in the guide sheet and PPT notes include additional information that is not on the slides. This way, the teacher can add interesting little comments or data to each slide (i.e., it makes the teacher look smart).

The PPT (or Google Slides) can be presented to the students or given to them to study on their own. The design is professional and with the right amount of words on each slide (i.e., NO death by PowerPoint). The content is very detailed in the notes, so if you are busy, you can simply open the slides in front of the class and read the notes (it is suggested you review the slides before class though).

You can make changes to the PPT, if you deem it necessary. This presentation can be used in Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides (if you want to use Google Slides, just click the link on the provided file).
