OVERCOMING DISCOURAGEMENT (NEHEMIAH 4:1-23)

INTRODUCTION: Discouragement is one of the best tools of the enemy to defeat us. All of us, even the most gifted and strong men of God, have experienced discouragement from time to time. Nehemiah, a great leader and motivator in his day, taught us how to battle discouragement, which I believe he experienced himself.C
I. THE REASON FOR DISCOURAGEMENT
A. FATIGUE (v.10)
B. FRUSTRATION (v. 4b)
C. FAILURE (v 4b)
D. FEAR (v. 11-12)
II. THE REMEDY FOR DISCOURAGEMENT
A. REINFORCEMENT (v. 13-14)
B. REQUISITION (v. 7-9)
C. REPOSITION (v.15-18)
D. REFLECTION (v. 20)
CONCLUSION: Discouragement is part and parcel of our Christian lives. As born again believers, we are no longer blind. Our eyes have been opened. We see things through clear lenses, and although this may be wonderful, it can also leave us with a heaviness as we witness the things that are happening around us in this world.
