Missouri County Valued Man’s $1,000 Parts Car for $12,100, Assessed Him $718 Property Tax on It 🤡🌎

Somehow in Missouri it is legal for the state charge people property tax on vehicles that are not on the road, including parts cars, like they are a house or condo. The guy in this video clearly was too honest with the state and shouldn’t have reported his purchase of a parts car that he picked up to use in order to maintain and keep his 1979 Corvette on the road, especially considering if he had stripped it down at the point of purchase the state wouldn’t be able to tax him like it is now.

For years, he was paying the property tax on his parts car based on the actual purchase price of $1,000, but this wasn’t good enough for the state though. Without any warning, it decided to reassess the value of this parts car without having an actual appraisal of it done. The state arbitrarily decided that NADA book value for a pristine example of a 1979 Corvette accurately reflected the car’s actual worth and assessed a new property tax amount based off of that amount instead. Which of course was much higher than the purchase price at $12,100. He went from paying less than $70 a year to now paying well over $700 and the state is trying to put the blame for it sticking him with this ridiculous tax bill on him even though it has admitted it has arbitrarily assessed the new value of the car without any proof it is worth that much.
