The greatest Russian car, the Lada Niva! Best car in the world? I think so!

Anyone who knows me knows I prefer function over comfort. And the Lada NIva has TONS of function! First designed in the 1970's, it's changed very little over the hears, with the same boxy exterior it's always had. Last year, they modernized the interior a bit, making air conditioning and seat heaters available... as an option. What about the function? It's full time four wheel drive with high and low gears and even has locking differentials! Yes, in a tiny little car!

The price for this little 1.8 liter fuel-injected powerhouse? Well under $8000 US Dollars! Sure, it's not the epitome of reliability, but for that price, you can afford a few wrenches and a hammer to make any repairs you need. And speaking of reliability, in the fourty-plus years that've been making this car, the reliability has gotten a little better. Still, you should take it to a mechanic and have all of the engine bolts checked by a mechanic after you buy it. As a result of the left over culture of socialism at the factory, they get paid the same amount whether they care and do a good job assembling everything... or not. And most likely, no one at the factory gives a s**t as a result.

Still, I love this car like no other, and it will always have a special place in my heart.
