A Milestone

The sun is going down on our day and our year is literally coming to an end, we will be in a new year, what a milestone! This new year is a milestone, because it is an evening where when we wake up, we have a new day, a milestone to measure our lives with. We can look back on the year behind us and look forward to the year ahead of us, this is a milestone. So much has changed this year and that is no exaggeration, much has quickly and radically changed up for us. We human beings, we measure things by the milestones in our lives, we all do it. Year 21 is a big milestone, year 30, year 50, year 70… all these milestones where life is measured by what is behind and what is ahead. The milestones of our first date, marriage, having our first child, all these things change what is ahead of us in a radical kind of way.Show more

God is like that, He surprises us with spiritual milestones, where we are given opportunity to “grow through” with Him. God has done so much for us, we can look back and see spiritual milestones, knowing there is no day where we have not grown in Him. As the sun sets on our today and we know tomorrow will be a new milestone, we think about what God has done for us, because this is what really matters, this is what is forever. God changes us up, so when we think about the milestones in our lives, let’s flip-flop our thinking to how we have grown as a person, how our personality, actions and ways have reflected Jesus.

We are becoming, we are becoming like Him, what milestone have you marked this year in your spiritual walk with God? Have you become more trustworthy? Has your faith increased? Have you become more patient, enduring with God, leaning into His Sovereign Sway? How much of your life have you turned over to Him this year, are you becoming closer to being wholly-holy-his? What is the state of your heart and soul as we walk towards another milestone in human time? Is it well with your soul? These are good things to reflect on as we close out this year and begin a new day, another milestone tomorrow, another new year.
